We experimentally measured the fieldlike spin-orbit torque (SOT) by the second-order planar Hall effect, as well as the dampinglike SOT by the polar magnetooptic Kerr effect in NiFe(1.5 nm)/AuCu(x nm) bilayers with 2 nm ≤ x ≤ 8 nm. We found that the spin diffusion length in the Au-Cu alloy is ~5 nm, which is shorter than that of pure Au and Cu. When the thickness of the AuCu layer is above. Most quantum states of condensed matter are classified by the symmetries they break. For example, crystalline solids break translational symmetry, and ferromagnets break rotational symmetry. By contrast, topological states of matter evade traditional symmetry-breaking classification schemes, and they signal the existence of a fundamentally different organizational principle of quantum matter.

To address this problem, we studied the spin Hall effects in metallic antiferromagnet compounds, X50Mn50, where X = Fe, Pd, Ir, Pt (with increasing atomic number), using spin pumping and inverse spin Hall effect experiments. We measured the spin Hall angle of the antiferromagnets which follows the relationship PtMn > IrMn > PdMn > FeMn. We also achieved the enhanced transverse spin shift of bilayer graphene at both the Brewster angle ( 33.55° ) and the critical angle ( 41.31° ) with the aid of the high order of Laguerre-Gaussian beam.
Photonic spin Hall effect in twisted bilayer graphene - Optica.
Hall effect can in principle exist in band in-sulators, where the spin current can flow without dissipation. Motivated by this suggestion, re-searchers have proposed the quantum spin Hall (QSH) effect for graphene (7)aswellasfor semiconductors (8, 9), where the spin current is carried entirely by the helical edge states in two-dimensional samples.

Measurement of the SHE in Ta. To determine the spin Hall angle in β-Ta, we used the ST-induced ferromagnetic resonance (ST-FMR) technique, previously introduced in studies of Pt ().Our samples consisted of Co 40 Fe 40 B 20 (4)/Ta(8) (the numbers in parentheses represent layers; thickness in nanometers) bilayers sputter-deposited onto oxidized Si substrates and patterned into 10-μm-wide strips. We demonstrate that a giant spin Hall effect (SHE) can be induced by introducing a small amount of Bi impurities in Cu. Our analysis, based on a new three-dimensional finite element treatment of spin transport, shows that the sign of the SHE induced by the Bi impurities is negative and its spin Hall (SH) angle amounts to −.24.Such a negative large SH angle in CuBi alloys can be explained. By discovering the dependence of the frequency position of the maximal photonic spin Hall effect shift on the Moir\'e angle, we argue that the latter could be unequivocally accessed via all-optical far-field measurements. We also disclose that, when combined with the Goos-H\"anchen effect, the spin Hall effect of light enables the complete.
Rational design principles for giant spin Hall effect in 5d-transition.
Additionally, the STFMR signal often deteriorates when DC current is passed through the device. In this work we measure the SHA from DC bias current dependent inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) measurements which is more immune to the injected DC current noise and to the artefacts related the optimization problem. The effective spin-anomalous Hall angle changed from a positive value (+0.027 at x = 0.15) to a negative value (-0.012 at x = 0.65) with increasing Co composition. This study provides a deeper understanding of the SAHE. AB - We investigated the spin-anomalous Hall effect (SAHE) in ferromagnetic Fe-Co binary alloys with different compositions. We have measured the spin-dependent nanometer-sized displacements of the spin Hall effect of the reflected light from a planar air-glass interface.... For a fixed incident angle of 30 deg, the displacement decreases to zero as the polarization angle approaches approximately 39 deg from 0 deg (the horizontal polarization) and then increases in. 1. Introduction. The optical spin Hall effect (OSHE), a phenomenon originally demonstrated by the spin-dependent transverse shifts of light reflected or refracted by a plane interface, has attracted enormous interest and evoked many pioneering studies [1,2,3,4,5,6] since it was proposed by Onoda as an analogy to the electron spin Hall effect []..
Spin Funneling: Enhanced Spin Hall Angle.
Spin Hall effects are a collection of relativistic spin-orbit coupling phenomena in which electrical currents can generate transverse spin currents and vice versa. Although first observed only a. We study the origin of the strong spin Hall effect (SHE) in a recently discovered family of Weyl semimetals, LaAl X (X = Si, Ge) via first-principles with maximally localized Wannier functions. We show that the strong intrinsic spin Hall effect in LaAl X originates from the multiple slight anticrossings of nodal lines and points near to the Fermi energy due to their high-mirror symmetry and. In this work, we examine the IF shift of Gaussian beam at the Brewster angle. Interestingly, the spin Hall effect of light takes place in the IF shift at the same time. Furthermore, this.
Photo-induced inverse spin Hall effect of the top and bottom Dirac.
The parameter describing the efficiency of the spin-to-charge current conversion is the spin Hall angle Θ SH. It is defined as the ratio of the measured charge current deflected by ISHE in the NM material and the spin current injected into the NM material.
Determination of the spin Hall angle in single-crystalline Pt films.
The SHE model is also self-contained, physics based model for both MTJ and spin hall metal (SHM). The dimensions and magnetic parameters of both MTJ and SHM are inputs to this model. Additionally, this model includes the effect of initial angle and thermal fluctuation, both of them can be user-defined inputs.
Relativistic Kepler problem.
This conversion efficiency is captured by the spin Hall angle, which is defined as the ratio of the spin current to the charge current flowing in a material. While our reported values significantly advance the cutting-edge values seen in oxides, they are smaller than the values seen in two topological insulators ( 15 - 17 ).
Giant Spin Hall Effect in the Bulk Limit - Brown University.
Spin Hall angle (θ SH) and spin diffusion length (λ sd) are the key parameters in describing the spin-charge conversion, which is an integral part of spintronics. Despite their importance and much effort devoted to quantifying them, significant inconsistencies in the reported values for the same given material exist. However, the well-known spin-Hall effect (SHE) can only generate a few of its components whose propagating and polarization directions are perpendicular with each other and to an applied charge.
Investigation of magnetic properties of Pt/CoFeB/MgO layers using angle.
We have developed a modified theory of the spin Hall effect of reflected light from a planar interface composed of two dielectric media and obtain the analytical expression valid for any incident angle including the Brewster's angle. We improved the experimental method and measured the spin-dependent transverse displacement of reflected light from a planar air-glass interface around the.
Spin Hall effect - Wikipedia.
Our experiments show a decrease of the spin Hall effect with decreasing temperature, which is attributed to a temperature-dependent proximity effect. The spin Hall angle decreases from 0.086 at room temperature to 0.042 at 10 K for Pt and is nearly negligible at 10 K for Pd. By first-principle calculations, we show that the spin Hall.
